So I've decided to try some UART paper and I'm scared! For a piece of paper this stuff is seriously expensive at like £4 a sheet. At least I think so. It's a thick, premium, sanded paper that supposedly will hold wet media AND pastel, something I have been wanting to combine for some time. I gave this combination a half hearted try last weekend on a gesso'd board. It was a disaster! This paper will hopefully combine the strength to hold watercolour or acrylic with my need to use my beloved pastels. It arrived slightly bendy and indeed pretty much like sandpaper. This is this weekend's project and will be my first watercolour and pastel Native American portrait. Looking forward to giving this stuff a go as I'd like to make a series of these. Will be updating.
