Week 3: Cobra water-mixable  Oil Paints oil girl Portrait painted in Cobra water-mixable Oil Paints I am absolutely HOOKED on these. I've been SCARED to use them because though they are water soluble they are still oils. The proper thing! Real art materials and all that! But wow they are gorgeous. I like to paint small and I like to blend. A lot! These paints allowed me to do that so very, very well. I also added some water mixable oil colour medium by Cobra and that diluted further and helped the paint become even more blendable. Apparently although the oils can be diluted with water the pigment might not be super smooth when laid down. it depends on the finish you're after. I want my skin tones to be super, super smooth so the added medium was perfect for me. The water soluble bit really comes in when it's time to clean up and with a bit of soap it's a breeze. I loved them so much I've ordered more paints (half price at Jackson's Art Supplies until middle of June) and a large canvas board and I can't wait to have a real go. Ps: I painted the face on a canvas sheet which I'm going to tape into the journal. These come in packs loose or in pads and are great for practice from SAA art supplies online. ( incidentally I'm not affiliated to any of the above mentioned, I just LOVE them !)
